Linda Hickey
My story about the name Linda is dedicated to the vaulting coach of the vaulting team, Uppsala, Sweden. In 1997, the Uppsala team qualified for the first time for the European Championships in Aachen. They overcame Malmö's vaulting club, which regularly qualified for championships. Uppsala's distinctive freestyle, set to hardcore folk music called Hoven Droven, added a new dimension to the sport. One year later, I was vaulting on World Master Christoph Lensing's horse Rascal. I was preparing for the World Equestrian Games in Rome when I was approached by Christoph's girlfriend Ilonka Homberg. Linda and her sister were present when I visited their stable in Westphalia. We went through a rigorous Bootcamp, and we were continually required to clear up the horse stables together. It was the beginning of techno, and Christoph Lensing was quite interested in it. He was also quite into Linda. One night, he took us to a techno club, and I gave Linda a hickey. Linda was a few years older than me, which caused a small scandal. One day, Christoph and Ilonka took me home. They wanted to know everything about Linda and me. Ilonka began explaining to Christoph why a person like me would end up with a girl like Linda instead of him. She provided him advice on how to be more attractive to women. It seemed strange to me that there were still a couple. What is your story about hickeys and the name Linda?
