Linda Hickey

My story about the name Linda is dedicated to the vaulting coach of the vaulting team, Uppsala, Sweden. In 1997, the Uppsala team qualified for the first time for the European Championships in Aachen. They overcame Malmö's vaulting club, which regularly qualified for championships. Uppsala's distinctive freestyle, set to hardcore folk music called Hoven Droven, added a new dimension to the sport. One year later, I was vaulting on World Master Christoph Lensing's horse Rascal. I was preparing for the World Equestrian Games in Rome when I was approached by Christoph's girlfriend Ilonka Homberg. Linda and her sister were present when I visited their stable in Westphalia.
